Now these are thecommandments, thestatutes, and thejudgments, which theLORD yourGodcommanded toteach you, that ye mightdo them in theland whither yego to possess it:
2 That thou mightestfear theLORD thyGod, tokeep all hisstatutes and hiscommandments, which Icommand thee, thou, and thyson, and thyson'sson, all thedays of thylife; and that thydays may be prolonged.
3Hear therefore, OIsrael, andobserve todo it; that it may bewell with thee, and that ye mayincreasemightily, as theLORDGod of thyfathers hathpromised thee, in theland thatfloweth withmilk and honey.
4Hear, OIsrael: TheLORD ourGod isone LORD:
5 And thou shaltlove theLORD thyGod with all thineheart, and with all thysoul, and with all thy might.
6 And thesewords, which Icommand thee thisday, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach themdiligently unto thychildren, and shalttalk of them when thousittest in thinehouse, and when thouwalkest by theway, and when thou liestdown, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shaltbind them for asign upon thinehand, and they shall be asfrontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shaltwrite them upon theposts of thyhouse, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall be, when theLORD thyGod shall havebrought thee into theland which hesware unto thyfathers, toAbraham, toIsaac, and toJacob, togive theegreat andgoodlycities, which thou buildedst not,
11 Andhousesfull of allgood things, which thoufilledst not, andwellsdigged, which thoudiggedst not,vineyards and olivetrees, which thouplantedst not; when thou shalt haveeaten and be full;
12 Thenbeware lest thouforget theLORD, which brought theeforth out of theland ofEgypt, from thehouse of bondage.
13 Thou shaltfear theLORD thyGod, andserve him, and shaltswear by his name.
14 Ye shall notgoafterothergods, of thegods of thepeople which are round about you;
15 (For theLORD thyGod is ajealousGodamong you) lest theanger of theLORD thyGod bekindled against thee, anddestroy thee from off theface of the earth.
16 Ye shall nottempt theLORD yourGod, as yetempted him in Massah.
17 Ye shalldiligentlykeep thecommandments of theLORD yourGod, and histestimonies, and hisstatutes, which he hath commanded thee.
18 And thou shaltdo that which isright andgood in thesight of theLORD: that it may bewell with thee, and that thou mayest goin andpossess thegoodland which theLORDsware unto thy fathers,
19 To castout all thineenemies frombefore thee, as theLORD hath spoken.
20 And when thysonasketh thee in time tocome,saying, What mean thetestimonies, and thestatutes, and thejudgments, which theLORD ourGod hath commanded you?
21 Then thou shaltsay unto thyson, We werePharaoh'sbondmen inEgypt; and theLORD brought usout ofEgypt with amighty hand:
22 And theLORDshewedsigns andwonders,great andsore, uponEgypt, uponPharaoh, and upon all hishousehold, before our eyes:
23 And he brought usout from thence, that he might bring usin, togive us theland which hesware unto our fathers.
24 And theLORDcommanded us todo all thesestatutes, tofear theLORD ourGod, for ourgoodalways, that he might preserve usalive, as it is at this day.
25 And it shall be ourrighteousness, if weobserve todo allthesecommandmentsbefore theLORD ourGod, as he hath commanded us.
