Genesis
Chapter 3
KJV · Textus Receptus
Now theserpentwas moresubtil than anybeast of thefield which theLORDGod hadmade. And hesaid unto thewoman,Yea, hathGodsaid, Ye shall noteat of everytree of the garden?
And thewomansaid unto theserpent, We mayeat of thefruit of thetrees of the garden:
But of thefruit of thetree which is in themidst of thegarden,God hathsaid, Ye shall noteat of it, neither shall yetouch it,lest ye die.
And theserpentsaid unto thewoman, Ye shall notsurely die:
ForGod dothknow that in theday yeeat thereof, then youreyes shall beopened, and ye shall be asgods,knowinggood and evil.
And when thewomansaw that thetree wasgood forfood, and thatit waspleasant to theeyes, and atree to bedesired to make onewise, shetook of the fruitthereof, and dideat, andgavealso unto herhusband with her; and he did eat.
And theeyes of themboth wereopened, andtheyknew that they werenaked; and theysewedfigleavestogether, and madethemselves aprons.
And theyheard thevoice of theLORDGodwalking in thegarden in thecool of theday: andAdam and hiswife hidthemselves from thepresence of theLORDGodamongst thetrees of the garden.
And theLORDGodcalled untoAdam, andsaid unto him, Where art thou?
And hesaid, Iheard thyvoice in thegarden, and I wasafraid, becauseI wasnaked; and I hid myself.
And hesaid,Whotold thee that thou wastnaked? Hast thoueaten of thetree, whereof I commandedthee that thou shouldestnot eat?
And themansaid, Thewoman whom thougavest to be withme,shegave me of thetree, and I did eat.
And theLORDGodsaid unto thewoman, What is this that thou hastdone? And thewomansaid, Theserpent beguiledme, and I did eat.
And theLORDGodsaid unto theserpent, Becausethou hastdone this, thou artcursed above allcattle, and above everybeast of thefield; upon thybelly shalt thougo, anddust shalt thoueat all thedays of thy life:
And I willputenmity between thee and thewoman, and between thyseed and herseed; it shallbruise thyhead, and thou shaltbruise his heel.
Unto thewoman hesaid, I willgreatlymultiply thysorrow and thyconception; insorrow thou shalt bringforthchildren; and thydesire shall be to thyhusband, and he shall rule over thee.
And untoAdam hesaid, Because thou hasthearkened unto thevoice of thywife, and hasteaten of thetree, ofwhich I commandedthee,saying, Thou shalt noteat of it:cursed is theground for thy sake; insorrow shalt thoueat of itall thedays of thy life;
Thornsalso andthistles shall it bringforth to thee; and thou shalteat theherb of the field;
In thesweat of thyface shalt thoueatbread,till thoureturn unto theground; for out of it wast thoutaken: fordustthou art, and untodust shalt thou return.
AndAdamcalled hiswife'snameEve; because she was themother of all living.
UntoAdam also and to hiswife did theLORDGodmakecoats ofskins, and clothed them.
And theLORDGodsaid,Behold, theman is become asone of us, toknowgood andevil: and now, lest he putforth hishand, andtake also of thetree oflife, andeat, andlive for ever:
Therefore theLORDGod sent himforth from thegarden ofEden, totill theground from whence he was taken.
So he droveout theman; and heplaced at theeast of thegarden ofEdenCherubims, and aflamingsword which turned everyway, tokeep theway of thetree of life.
