Chapter 7
KJV · Textus Receptus
And it came to pass in thedays ofAhaz theson ofJotham, theson ofUzziah,king ofJudah, thatRezin theking ofSyria, andPekah theson ofRemaliah,king ofIsrael, wentup towardJerusalem towar against it, butcould not prevail against it.
And it wastold thehouse ofDavid,saying,Syria isconfederate withEphraim. And hisheart wasmoved, and theheart of hispeople, as thetrees of thewood aremovedwith the wind.
Thensaid theLORD untoIsaiah, Goforth now tomeetAhaz, thou, andShearjashub thyson, at theend of theconduit of theupperpool in thehighway of thefuller's field;
Andsay unto him, Takeheed, and bequiet;fear not, neither befainthearted for thetwotails of thesesmokingfirebrands, for thefierceanger ofRezin withSyria, and of theson of Remaliah.
BecauseSyria,Ephraim, and theson ofRemaliah, have takenevilcounsel against thee, saying,
Let us goup againstJudah, andvex it, and let us make abreach therein for us, andset aking in themidst of it, even theson of Tabeal:
Thussaith theLordGOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
For thehead ofSyria isDamascus, and thehead ofDamascus isRezin; and withinthreescore andfiveyears shallEphraim bebroken, that it be not a people.
And thehead ofEphraim isSamaria, and thehead ofSamaria isRemaliah'sson. If ye will notbelieve, surely ye shall not be established.
Moreover theLORDspakeagain untoAhaz, saying,
Ask thee asign of theLORD thyGod;ask it either in thedepth, or in theheight above.
ButAhazsaid, I will notask, neither will Itempt the LORD.
And hesaid,Hear ye now, Ohouse ofDavid; Is it a smallthing for you towearymen, but will yeweary my God also?
Therefore theLord himself shallgive you asign; Behold, avirgin shallconceive, andbear ason, and shallcall hisnameImmanuel.
Butter andhoney shall heeat, that he mayknow torefuse theevil, andchoose the good.
For before thechild shallknow torefuse theevil, andchoose thegood, theland that thouabhorrest shallbeforsaken ofboth her kings.
TheLORD shallbring upon thee, and upon thypeople, and upon thyfather'shouse,days that have notcome, from theday thatEphraimdeparted fromJudah; even theking of Assyria.
And it shall come to pass in thatday, that theLORD shallhiss for thefly that is in the uttermostpart of therivers ofEgypt, and for thebee that is in theland of Assyria.
And they shallcome, and shallrest all of them in thedesolatevalleys, and in theholes of therocks, and upon allthorns, and upon all bushes.
In the sameday shall theLordshave with arazor that ishired, namely, by thembeyond theriver, by theking ofAssyria, thehead, and thehair of thefeet: and it shall alsoconsume the beard.
And it shall come to pass in thatday, that aman shallnourish ayoungcow, andtwo sheep;
And it shall come to pass, for theabundance ofmilk that they shallgive he shalleatbutter: forbutter andhoney shall every oneeat that isleftin the land.
And it shall come to pass in thatday, that everyplace shall be, where there were athousandvines at athousandsilverlings, it shall even be forbriers and thorns.
Witharrows and withbows shall mencome thither; because all theland shall becomebriers and thorns.
And on allhills that shall bedigged with themattock, there shall not comethither thefear ofbriers andthorns: but it shall be for the sendingforth ofoxen, and for thetreading of lesser cattle.
