Chapter 139
KJV · Textus Receptus
[To the chiefMusician, APsalm ofDavid.] OLORD, thou hastsearched me, and known me.
Thouknowest mydownsitting and mineuprising, thouunderstandest mythought afar off.
Thoucompassest mypath and my lyingdown, and artacquainted with all my ways.
For there is not aword in mytongue, but, lo, OLORD, thou knowest it altogether.
Thou hastbeset mebehind andbefore, andlaid thine hand upon me.
Suchknowledge is toowonderful for me; it ishigh, I cannot attain unto it.
Whither shall Igo from thyspirit? or whither shall Iflee from thy presence?
If I ascendup intoheaven, thou art there: if I make mybed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If Itake thewings of themorning, anddwell in the uttermostparts of the sea;
Even there shall thyhandlead me, and thy righthand shall hold me.
If Isay, Surely thedarkness shallcover me; even thenight shall belight about me.
Yea, thedarknesshideth not from thee; but thenightshineth as theday: thedarkness and the light are both alike to thee.
For thou hastpossessed myreins: thou hastcovered me in mymother's womb.
I willpraise thee; for I amfearfully and wonderfullymade:marvellous are thyworks; and that mysoulknoweth right well.
Mysubstance was nothid from thee, when I wasmade insecret, and curiouslywrought in the lowestparts of the earth.
Thineeyes didsee my substance, yet beingunperfect; and in thybook all my members werewritten, which incontinuance werefashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Howprecious also are thythoughts unto me, OGod! howgreat is the sum of them!
If I shouldcount them, they are more innumber than thesand: when Iawake, I am still with thee.
Surely thou wiltslay thewicked, OGod:depart from me therefore, yebloody men.
For theyspeak against theewickedly, and thineenemiestake thy name in vain.
Do not Ihate them, OLORD, thathate thee? and am not Igrieved with those that rise up against thee?
Ihate them withperfecthatred: I count them mine enemies.
Search me, OGod, andknow myheart:try me, andknow my thoughts:
Andsee if there be anywickedway in me, andlead me in theway everlasting.
