When a person goes through a Christian baptism, they express their union with Him.
In the Bible, we read about Jesus Christ being baptized by John the Baptist. Although Jesus lived a life free from sin, He still instructed John the Baptist to perform His baptism, leading him to ask whether Jesus should be baptized. But in order to fulfill all righteousness, we learn that Jesus Christ had to be baptized. And today, believers of His word also follow his example in being Biblically baptized, not as a method of salvation but as a demonstration of that salvation.
The Christian baptism process can look different in the various denominations of Christianity, although it always involves the use of water. Some sprinkle water on the head, while others follow Christ’s example and are immersed completely. The practice is representative of becoming clean, or being forgiven of sin, and committing to a belief in Jesus Christ as the Savior. In Romans, we read that baptism also represents being buried, or dead to the power of sin. When a person goes through a Christian baptism, they express their union with Him and His resurrection.

What is a Christian baptism?
At Summit Bible Center, Christian baptism is a significant spiritual milestone that symbolizes your decision to follow Jesus Christ. The act of baptism represents the death of your old life and the new beginning with Him.
Who is eligible to be baptized?
If you have personally decided to follow Christ, baptism is for you. Whether as an adult or a child, baptism is for those who can profess their faith and follow biblical examples.
Why does your church baptize by immersion?
We practice full immersion baptism because this mirrors the biblical symbolism of burial and resurrection. By going under water and then coming up again, you rise anew in Christ.
If I was baptized before, do I need to be re-baptized?
You don’t need to be re-baptized if you don’t want to. What matters most is the sincerity of your faith. If you were baptized after believing in Jesus, regardless of the method, this is what matters.
Can my family and friends join the celebration?
Yes! We encourage loved ones to come and support the journey toward accepting Christ in your life by attending your baptism.
