Baptism is a symbolic ritual that declares your faith in God and signifies the forgiveness of sins. It is a significant step in your journey to living a more Christ-like life and becoming who you are meant to be. After all, Jesus Christ himself was baptized—He lived a life free of sin but was baptized to fulfill all righteousness, and His followers are baptized to declare their faith in Him and be purified.
While in many churches, baptism is seen as a condition for salvation, in others, it is more a promise you make to follow Jesus. The process of baptism varies in practice, as well. Baptism by immersion in a body of water is practiced in many churches, while in others water may be sprinkled on the head. Regardless of the practice, water symbolizes the cleansing and rebirth of the follower as a spiritual child of Christ.
